Rebellin v4 Coming Soon!

QUICK UPDATE 2:

Faced freezing issues on Intel hardware on both Gnome and Mate. I’ve found a solution and I’m currently testing it out a bit. The system so far seems to be stable enough for a daily driver. If all goes well, we’ll be able to release Rebellin v4 on September 3rd, 2019.

These delays are embarrassing… But I couldn’t help it. πŸ™

QUICK UPDATE:

Rebellin v4 has been delayed by 2 weeks. We’ll release Rebellin v4 on August 12th, 2019. I will need some more time for testing and fixing bugs. But the end result will be a very high quality product. πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for being there in my journey so far.

It’s been quite a while. I got busy with some other stuff in life and couldn’t find time to update Rebellin and roll out the next version. But it’s ready now. Well, almost. I still have to finalize some important bits. Here are the updates:

  1. Rebellin v4 will be released on July 29th, 2019. The same high-performance distro, made even better!
  2. The website will be fully updated. I’m working on a new one from scratch.
  3. All new manual coming up. More than 300-pages of beginner-friendly content!
  4. Lots of tech tutorials will be made available on the website. Free, of course.
  5. The same beginner-friendly customer support! πŸ™‚

Hope to see you soon. Stay tuned!

Namaste!

Probably way too late to ask this since we’re already 5-6 days away from the next release but here goes; is it possible to reconsider a different base + separate DE/WM vers moving forward?

No offense but it seems to me that we have way too many Debian respins right now and I feel that Rebellin is in a unique position to shall we say differentiate?

Slackware -current or Devuan unstable=ceres. Both non systemd. Not a hater of it just that I find non systemd distros to be a lot faster both at boot and in op. And Slackware deserve an expanded downstream that’s a given. On DEs look at Raspberry Pi Desktop’s LXDE fork, LXQt and Openbox + fbpanel. Simple, no BS and fast.

However and of course with respect this is entirely the Rebellin team’s prerogative so these are all mere suggestions really. I’m still looking forward to v4 and I hope that Adrenaline MATE makes it to the cut.

I really appreciate you taking the time to post this comment. I’ll definitely look into the DEs you’ve mentioned.

Rebellin is based on Debian Sid. With Mate and Gnome as the desktop environments. So this is the ‘Adrenaline’ variant itself as we have discontinued the ‘Synergy’ variant which was based on Debian Current Stable. That being said, since Debian Sid is a moving target, it is difficult to build a perfectly stable day-to-day usable and reliable distro. There are too many variables to consider and a lot of testing that has to be done. But the hard work is worth it, since we get much newer packages and much better driver support. And if done well, this really produces an amazing Linux-based Operating System.

There is a little bad news though. I’m facing a lot of setbacks recently. I might not make it till 29th July. Expect a delay in release by 2 weeks. I will be writing a post about this shortly.
